James Edward Heywood, of Sedona and Aspen, Colo., died June 16 in Sedona.

After a fulfilling career with IBM, Ford and Silicon Valley companies, he taught wind surfing in San Francisco Bay, and sailed his ketch “Heyday” throughout the Caribbean. He loved hiking in the Colorado mountains and Sedona, and playing tennis.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy; children Kathryn, Robin, Matthew and Charles; and grandsons Bryce and Dillon.

Roy Robert “Bob” Adkisson, formerly of Cottonwood, died Aug. 17 in Sedona.

He was a member of the Heaven Bound Bluegrass Band at the Cottonwood Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He was survived by his wife, Aradath Adkisson, who died Aug. 24; daughter Jeanne Spaulding; sons Steve Zandhuisen, Robert Hanks and Barry Hanks; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Per his request, his ashes will be scattered in the Bodie Ghost Town State Park in California. A memorial service will be held in Cottonwood at a date to be determined.

Aradath Ireta “Ardie” Adkisson, formerly of Cottonwood, died Aug. 24 in Sedona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Robert “Bob” Adkisson.

She is survived by her daughters Starlene Byles, Taralee Myers and Karanel Jones; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Per her request, her ashes will be scattered in the Bodie Ghost Town State Park in California. A memorial service will be held in Cottonwood at a date to be determined.

Joe Gramont, 48, of Camp Verde, died Aug. 17.

He was an electrician, owned and operated Socket Service Electric for 15 years. His professional service reached beyond the Verde Valley to many states.

He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Nadja Gramont of Chicago, Ill.; his other “mom in the Village” Carol Heinz; stepdaughters Callie and Jessie Janes; and sisters Donna Gramont and Renee Hodorowicz.

Service will be Saturday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. at Wayside Chapel, 401 N. SR 89A. Donations are suggested to Young Life Sedona and the Verde Valley.

An award-winning quilt maker, she participated in the Verde Valley Dog Agility Club.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m., at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sedona. Internment will be at Prescott National Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in the Village of Oak Creek.

Born in Rainier, Ore., he served 24 years in the U.S. Army and 14 years as one of the original Special Forces’ Green Berets. He believed in UFOs and was an abstract painter, ceramic artist and writer.

He is survived by his wife Miro FitzGerald, and his daughters Paulina Watson-Anderson and Elise FitzGerald-Ehrheart.

A WWII veteran, he was a technical and commercial artist. He served as Exalted Ruler of Sedona Elks Lodge No. 2291 from 1990 to 1991.

He is survived by his wife Eve Adams-Romero and daughters Cindy Marie Kennedy and Cary Lynn Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Greer’s Mortuary of Sedona. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Susan J. Rheem ADC in Cottonwood.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mary; son Andy Lambright of Oregon; daughter Janie Lambright of Yucaipa, Calif.; brother Freeman Lambright of Dandridge, Tenn.; sister Amanda Eash of Bloomfield, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mass will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sedona. Interment will be at a later date.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served with distinction in World War II. He achieved the rank of colonel at age 34 and retired after 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy, and son Kern [Lucinda] Nuttall, of Page; a niece, and several nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Jeanne and his sisters Ruth Liotta and Nancy Knecht.

He is survived by five children, Dan [Sally], Linda, Kathy [Paul] Wolf, Christy [Bill], and Karen; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
